Currently, they are at Pringle Home in Carron Hall refurbishing the young girl’s dorm with fresh tile in the bathrooms, new fixtures, repaired windows, and a bright coat of paint throughout the sleeping area. Projects at the Bromley and Belfield schools have seen trees felled and fans installed. Funding to help our own staff with some personal home repair and building another virtual house build is already lined up moving forward. We would love to build even more!
One thing we know for sure, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), but everything else seems to be changing! How does our mission of “bringing people closer to Christ through short term missions” adapt to a reality of limited travel and restricted personal contact?
Normally teams would have filled the calendar with trips over spring break through the summer and into the fall. Ministry has looked incredibly different but God has been so faithful blessing so many in unexpected ways! It was exciting to see our first virtual house, funded by Delphi UMC, being built by our Jamaican staff. Watch online here: https://csiministries.net/delphivb
Sharing devotions by Zoom allowed the Delphi team to interact with the Jamaica team as recorded interviews with the recipient family, pictures of the build and testimonies from our staff went back and forth daily. The house dedication was moving as a Jamaican pastor blessed the house and our CSI construction coordinator, Patrick handed over the keys to the new homeowners (Andreen Spence – Edwards and Andrae Edwards with their seven children).
With the virtual build and other projects in the works we have been able to keep our Jamaican staff employed and active.
And, with the faithful support of many of you, we have been able to keep the Jamaica Student Support program fully funded and we are set for the start of school backpack give away happening now!
